Since 1965, Baroid Industrial Drilling Products has regularly conducted field and classroom seminars and demonstrations for customers and product users in the industrial drilling disciplines. During the past forty years these seminars have been attended by rig personnel, contractors, engineers, geologists, and regulatory personnel.

Every year, usually in January and February, separate extended workshops are conducted at the Baroid Career Development Center in Houston, Texas. Each course usually runs five days in length. The first three days cover basic drilling fluids technology, while the remaining two days focus on the following operational applications:

  • Water well drilling
  • Diamond coring for minerals exploration
  • Construction-trenchless technology and horizontal directional drilling

Lectures, demonstrations, and laboratory exercises are conducted by a select group of Baroid technical representatives from the field and laboratory. This group averages over 20 years experience in drilling and drilling fluid applications. They are aided by the regular teaching staff of the Baroid Career Development Center.

Upon successful completion of the seminar, the attendee receives a certificate of attendance, which is accepted by most organizations as evidence and fulfillment of their continuing education requirements.
